چکیده

We develop and carry out Monte Carlo simulations for an ensemble of superparamagnetic particles uniformly distributed in a nonmagnetic matrix. We find the magnetization below the blocking temperature TB when it shows hysteresis and above TB in the superparamagnetic region. We determine the blocking temperature for a set of anisotropy strengths from the magnetization and the susceptibility of the particles. A fixed number of Monte Carlo steps with a constrained acceptance rate is shown to be equivalent to an observation time in the simulations that is much shorter than experimental observation times. We show how the blocking temperature obtained in the simulations can be converted into the corresponding experimentally measurable blocking temperature by using this difference in the observation times. This provides a new method to compare Monte Carlo simulation results with experiments, such as recent ones on fcc Co particles.

Superparamagnetism and Monte Carlo Simulations

We summarize the basic concepts beneath the idea of superparamagnetism and introduce the Monte Carlo (MC) method as a powerful tool for studying superparamagnetic (SPM) properties. Starting with the description of the physical features of the single-domain SPM entities, we concentrate on their special magnetic properties as a function of time, temperature, and applied magnetic field. Then, we g...

Calculation of the Equivalent Dose of the First and the Most Important Secondary Particles in Brain Proton Therapy by Monte Carlo Simulation

Introduction: Due to nuclear interactions between the tissues and high-energy protons, the particles, including neutrons, positrons, and photons arise during proton therapy. This study aimed at investigating the dose distribution of proton and secondary particles, such as positrons, neutrons, and photons using the Monte Carlo method. Material and Methods:<...

Thermodynamics of finite magnetic two-isomer systems

We use Monte Carlo simulations to investigate the thermodynamical behavior of aggregates consisting of few superparamagnetic particles in a colloidal suspension. The potential energy surface of this classical two-isomer system with a stable and a metastable ‘‘ring’’ and ‘‘chain’’ configuration is tunable by an external magnetic field and temperature. We determine the complex ‘‘phase diagram’’ o...

Selective Removal of Lead (II) Ion from Wastewater Using Superparamagnetic Monodispersed Iron Oxide (Fe3O4) Nanoparticles as a Effective Adsorbent

This study investigated the applicability of polyethylene glycol (PEG-4000) coated Fe3O4 magnetic nanoparticles for the selective removal of toxic pb (II) ion from wastewater. The Fe3O4 magnetic nanoparticles of 24 nm were synthesized using a coprecipitation method and characterized by Scanning electron microscopy (SEM), vibratingsample magnetometer (VSM), and X-ray diffraction (XRD). SEM image...

Improve Synthesis of Iron Oxide Nanorode with Hydrothermal Method

Maghemite and magnetite nanoparticles and nanorode are now losing interests in the field of nanobiotechnology and pharmaceutical for their applications. This paper reports on a hydrothermal process for the synthesis of Fe2 O3 in the γ-phases nanorodes, when the hydrothermal temperature was 100 ̊ C. The uniqueness of the method lies in the use of ferrous ammonium sulphate, hexamine was added as t...
